Using Centrify's DirectControl With VMware's ESX Server: Leveraging DirectControl to Enable Active Directory Services for ESX Server
Overview VMware's ESX Server has become a popular solution for running multiple virtual operating systems on a single Intel-based server platform. This capability means that a system can now be thought of as a virtual computer room and, as such, controls need to be put in place to restrict access to the virtual computing space. By default, each ESX Server uses a local store for usernames and passwords of administrators responsible for managing each virtual machine. However, many organizations are moving to a system of centralized directory services, access control and computing policies in order to simplify administration and improve security. Microsoft's Active Directory has emerged as one of the leading identity solutions for enterprise directory and policy services.
