VERITAS Database Edition 3.5 for Oracle (HP)

Overview This paper details the high performance characteristics of VERITAS Database Edition for Oracle 3.5 (HP) QIO (QIO) as compared to Oracle Disk Manager (ODM) and Raw I/O performance. Raw I/O delivers in most cases the best OLTP performance numbers in an Oracle environment but at the cost of file system manageability, disk space management and CPU loading. Database Edition for Oracle 3.5 (HP) with QIO/ODM delivers Raw I/O Performance with file system manageability. The performance tests of QIO and ODM show that DBED for Oracle maintains its performance throughput against Raw I/O throughout the range of performance test. The parity with Raw I/O throughput was verified in three important database performance categories, SGA scalability, spindle scaling and process loading.
