Upgrading to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne on a Downsized Budget

Overview Companies using earlier versions of the JD Edwards family of products (OneWorld, XE, ERP8.0, 8.9) are considering upgrading to the EnterpriseOne versions (8.10, 8.11 or higher). The decision to upgrade, however, is often overshadowed by the considerable cost of doing so. This paper explores the upgrade planning and execution process and highlights areas where costs can be reduced and processes streamlined. Areas where costs can be reduced by reducing reliance on external consultancy and utilizing internal JD Edwards capabilities are also discussed. The key approach to reducing upgrade costs lies in the following upgrade project activities: Upgrade Assessment, Upgrade Planning, Execution, Retrofitting and Knowledge Transfer.
