Welsh University Improves Document Control and Collaboration With New Technologies

Overview Students at University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) subscribe mainly to technical and business education courses. Along with lecturers and administrators, they increasingly rely on technology to study and collaborate effectively, especially when it comes to sharing documents and publishing on the Web. As part of a long-term project to integrate the university's information systems and create a Managed Learning Environment, UWIC implemented Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and Microsoft Content Management Server 2002. Together, these technologies served as the foundation for a central repository of documents that has boosted productivity among teaching and technical employees. The university has also established a consistent look and feel across all its Web sites and can update its online prospectus automatically.
