Disaster Recovery White Papers

Microsoft Small Business Server 2000: Disaster Recovery

Overview This white paper concentrates on how to recover server data that one has backed up to tape. The premise here is that there has been a hardware failure, a catastrophic problem with the operating system, or a natural disaster that has taken down the Microsoft Small Business Server. In such an event, one can completely restore backed up data to the same computer or to a new computer. Although this white paper touches on the importance of creating backup and disaster-recovery plans and how to make tape backups, it primarily focuses on what one should do to recover the data once a disaster has occurred. One can use these guidelines when performing quarterly or semiannual disaster-recovery run-throughs.
