Miami Trims City-Wide Network Costs by Uniting Into Single Windows 2000 Enterprise
Overview The City of Miami and Miami Police Department (PD) are responsible for one of America's most diverse cities. Operating under tight budgets, the City's core IT departments are charged with optimizing routine business processes while at the same time minimizing technology costs and maintenance requirements. Until recently, the City government and police ran disparate systems using Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 servers as their platform. As a result, the agencies were burdened with administrative challenges and unexpected downtime due to outdated hardware and software. In order to reduce its total cost of network management, the City began unifying its legacy systems into a single forest built on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, with the support of Advanced Systems Design (ASD), a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner based in Tallahassee, Florida.
