Plant Equipment, Inc. Uses Application Center 2000 for 9-1-1 Mission-Critical Control
Overview In 1968, Plant Equipment, Inc. (PEI) began developing advanced dispatch telephone systems for the utility industry, providing vast technological improvements over previous multi-console systems. These systems could effectively receive and dispatch the large number of calls received by utility industry call-centers. Also established in 1968 was the nation's 9-1-1 emergency receipt and dispatch call center networks. By 1972, the 9-1-1 network needed more sophisticated telephone systems for its Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) call centers - that was the first year a PEI system was installed in a 9-1-1 emergency center. Understanding market needs, aggressive R&D, and a comprehensive customer service policy positioned PEI to expand its service offerings into public safety telecommunications.
