Hospital Deploys New Technology to Enhance System Availability and Reduce Costs

Overview To deliver the highest quality medical services to 27,000 local citizens, Hanau City Hospital operates complex information systems. As well as storing, updating, and managing patient data, its systems handle information related to key processes such as financial accounting. Historically, the hospital operated a Sun and Solaris operating system and Oracle database to support its SAP system. It was expensive to manage and could no longer meet the hospital's storage requirements. To address this, the hospital deployed Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and migrated its database infrastructure to Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The new system was deployed with no disruption to normal operations. It is scalable, adaptable, and offers high system availability for critical data and applications.
