Search Tool Helps NASD Save Time, Gain Better Management Capabilities
Overview NASD is the primary private-sector regulator of the United States securities industry. It oversees the activities of more than 5,100 brokerage firms, approximately 105,000 branch offices, and more than 650,000 registered securities representatives. The organization relies on electronic document analysis to investigate complaints and examine NASD-regulated firms. As part of that process, NASD employees use e-mail and the Internet to search for financial data and member information for analysis. However, the time-consuming file search process was affecting productivity. To solve that issue, NASD deployed Microsoft Windows Desktop Search (WDS), a search tool that lets users quickly find files and other job-specific information. The tool has given NASD IT personnel an efficient way of managing its functionality.
