Understanding Role Management Applications: No Pain, No Gain
Overview Role management initiatives are taking hold as an effective way to address security, compliance, and efficiency objectives. Technical solutions to accomplish the discovery, analysis, design, management, reporting, and distribution of role and policy information are becoming established. Identity management (IdM) and other role consuming platforms and applications are capable of leveraging this information. Organizations are challenged, however, to develop sustainable role governance, definition and management methodologies for execution in the business. If this expectation proves to be impractical, there are alternative approaches and solutions that may satisfy immediate requirements and provide a foundation for subsequent role management efforts.
