Westpac Ready to Bank on Windows Vista

Overview With financial and banking companies increasingly providing products and services online, the drive to secure their IT environments has never been stronger. However, demands to increase efficiency and productivity must also be taken into account. After completing a company-wide rollout of Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP, Westpac, one of Australia's Big Four banks, wanted to trial the next generation of operating systems - Windows Vista. Following a small trial, the Bank is planning to begin a wider deployment of Windows Vista to around 27,000 users. It expects to take advantage of the platform's strong security environment, improved management features and advanced mobility support to gain competitive advantage by reducing costs and improving collaboration and responsiveness to customer demands.
