French National Railway Connects With Customers on the Desktop

Overview SNCF (Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer), France's national railway company, is charged with operating freight and passenger rail services, including the TGV high-speed passenger train service. SNCF wanted to promote its online services in conjunction with major line expansions between Paris and other cities planned for June 2007. With help from Microsoft, SNCF's CRMServices division, and marketing and communication firm FullSIX, the TGV group created an easy-to-use desktop tool that provides access to real-time train status, scheduling tools, and frequent-traveler accounts. SNCF used Windows Vista and gadgets for Windows Sidebar technology to create the lightweight, secure application in only three weeks. The first information service offered by TGV, the new TGV&Moi gadget is expected to play a central role in SNCF's future passenger alerts platform.
