Total Industrial Design Strategy Cuts Overall Costs, Boosts Quality

Overview Alloy Total Product Design offered extra value by extending role of Industrial Design (ID) to anticipate downstream development requirements and eliminate reverse engineering (total product design). The challenge was to ensure quality products by maintaining control of surfaces through mechanical engineering and tooling development. The company defined product concepts as NX software 3D models instead of 2D drawings. They transferred models to mechanical engineers and toolmakers via STEP, Parasolid software or native NX and used NX photorealistic rendering capabilities to communicate design concepts quickly via Internet. They also accommodated client/supplier late changes through use of NX system-based modeling tools.
