New Airplane Design Requires Full Range of CAD Functionality at Affordable Price
Overview Adam Aircraft's A500 airplane differs from other twin engine planes in two important ways. Adam Aircraft wanted to hold down development costs and meet rigorous requirements for FAA certification as quickly as possible. The challenge was to find CAD software that can be widely applied, including some licenses for high-end surfacing. The company installed NX for surface modeling, implemented Solid Edge for part modeling and drafting. It also imported exterior surfaces into Solid Edge for design of internal structures and used NX for NC programming.
