Nortel Network Case Study: Lehigh Valley Hospital - Optical Backbone

Overview Founded in 1899 as Allentown Hospital, today Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN) is one of the largest and oldest teaching facilities in Pennsylvania. Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network recognizes the wealth of new modalities and technology available to support advancements in patient care including PACS (picture archiving and communication systems) and other digital imaging systems. LVHHN selected Nortel to physically connect 3 hospitals, 2 administrative office campuses, a data center and a remote clinical site over a private OC-48 Synchronous Optical NETtwork (SONET), which, at 2.4 Gbit/s, is one of the fastest data connections in use today. Lehigh Valley's OC-48 network is currently managed by PPL Telcom.
