Overview The Development Authority of the North Country (DANC) is a New York State chartered public benefit corporation. Northern New York State is predominately a rural area that has limited access to emerging broadband communications. As a result, businesses, residents and other community organizations, such as school districts, were limited in their ability to afford or access broadband services. A private, Resilient Packet Ring (RPR)-based Optical Ethernet solution using Nortel's Optical Metro 3500 to support high-bandwidth broadband communications.
