Leading Research Centre Launches Italy's First Ultra-Broadband Network for Grid Computing

Overview The Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) company wanted to connect two research centres 80 km apart at ultra-broadband speeds to enable grid computing. Company deployed a highly resilient 10 Gbps LAN network based on the Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch 8600. The Nortel Optical Metro 5200 provides DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) 10 Gbps channels over fibre, for high-speed connectivity between research centres.
