Cargo at Spanish Port Passes Customs in Hours Instead of Days Using Web Portal

Overview The Port of Valencia in Spain wanted to create a promotional and transactional Web portal. This needed to provide an efficient way of aggregating information on shipping services as well as cost-effective tools for migrating paper-based processes to electronic media. To achieve these goals, the port deployed Microsoft integrated portal technologies, including Microsoft Commerce Server 2002, Microsoft Content Management Server 2002, and Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003. The transactional capabilities of the portal now allow cargo to pass through customs in hours instead of days. All necessary documentation can also be completed more efficiently using the portal's advanced workflow services.
