Royal Court Reduces Costs With New, Standardised IT Infrastructure

Overview The Royal Court of Sweden supports the country's head of state and royal family in their official duties. In addition, it manages the royal family's cultural heritage, including palaces, libraries, museums, and parks. To support these activities, the organisation's users historically worked with a number of different IT systems that were inefficient in terms of licensing and administration. In addition, external consultancy was required on a weekly basis, further increasing costs. To address these issues, the Royal Court of Sweden IT team decided to standardise its technology infrastructure on Microsoft Windows Server 2003. In doing so, it saved 200,000 Swedish Kroner (U.S.$27,000) over the cost of upgrading its existing Novell Netware systems.
