Community College Deploys Resilient, High Speed Network to Deliver New Services and Simplify Administration

Overview The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) is the 16th-largest multiple-campus community college in the United States, with an annual enrollment of 90,000 students. Community College of Allegheny County wanted to keep up with the increasing technology demands of students, instructors, and administrative staff and drive near-continuous operations. The challenge was to safeguard network and systems from security threats. The college deployed Cisco ONS 15454 Optical Network connecting all the colleges' campuses and the network operations center, Cisco Catalyst 6500 and 3750 Series switches and Cisco Intrusion Detection Systems Network Module and Cisco Firewall Services Module.
