Cisco Solutions Bring Traditional Medicine Into the Future in China

Overview The China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Guang An Men Hospital (including the Second institute of Clinical Medicine and the Institute of Ophthalmology) was founded in 1955. Guang An Men Hospital faced the problem of growing amounts of data which was unable to be handled manually or by existing software. Network capacity is also at its limits. Discrete departments of appointments, treatment, prescriptions, and billing made waiting times unbearably long for patients. Paper based records were hard to search, and physically located in separate places, making consolidated patient information difficult to obtain. The hospital deployed Cisco Systems Healthcare Business Solutions, incorporating a Cisco Medical Grade Network.
