Overview Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a research-intensive tertiary institution working in science and technology. Nanyang Technological University (NTU) takes innovative approaches to education and research. It wanted to build on its existing e-learning platform to heighten learning and communication, by addressing these gaps: Lack of a tool to enable students to work and conduct research; Inability to optimize project planning and management using computing technology; and Poor storage and archiving of educational materials. In 2004, NTU introduced eUreka, a new online project work management running on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition and Microsoft SQL Server 2000, and powered by Intel Xeon processors. The following year it piloted collaborative tools using Instant Messaging (IM) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony using Microsoft Office Communications Server 2005.
