Foundation Cuts Costs by 87 Percent, Slashes Batch Time in iSeries-to-Windows Migration
Overview The Indiana University Foundation was managing its US$1.3 billion endowment on an IBM iSeries AS400 minicomputer. But performance and reliability were less than optimal, frustrating users and administrators alike. So, the foundation migrated the solution to the Windows operating system, with help from Microsoft Gold Certified Partner ADC Austin. The results: The time to run nightly batch jobs has been slashed by 90 percent. And since beginning the project there's been no unplanned downtime, so the system is always available to users. End-user productivity is up by 25 percent or more. CPU usage has been slashed from 85 percent to 10 percent, enabling the use of hardware to support additional solutions today and to support additional growth in the future.
