Overview SharePoint Hosting provides small and midsize companies with the collaboration and document-sharing features of Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies without the companies having to invest in expensive IT resources. To attract new customers and enhance its Internet business, SharePoint Hosting wanted to upgrade its IT architecture. While working with a beta version of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, the company realized that it had the opportunity to take advantage of the 64-bit capabilities of SharePoint Services 3.0 to deploy a complete 64-bit Windows system that could deliver much higher performance. The company deployed a system using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and the 64-bit functionality of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
