Marrickville Council Standardises on the Microsoft Platform to Improve Internal Efficiencies, Enhance Customer Service and Streamline Management and Protection of Their Environment
Overview Marrickville Council standardised on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, and upgraded the desktop environment to Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Enterprise Edition. This has enabled them to carry out a number of ground-breaking initiatives to streamline workflows and continue to deliver a high level of service. Most outstanding is their provision of the council officers with Microsoft-based PDAs and applications that enable them to monitor the health and status of local trees and synchronise this information directly to the council where it can be overlaid onto aerial photographs. Marrickville Council has also developed an innovative program to monitor the Cooks River catchment at four locations.
