Impact of Implementing Antivirus Protection in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Environment
Overview Security is a required element in the design of a total messaging solution. An extremely infectious virus can cause tremendous damage by deleting critical data in the messaging environment, degrading performance, and corrupting Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 databases. Consequently, HP strongly recommends incorporating an antivirus protection element in the overall design of a messaging solution. The goal of deploying antivirus protection is to prevent a potential disaster by safeguarding the entire messaging environment from various attacks, such as virus threats, security risks, suspicious file attachments, and spam. The primary objective of the testing described in this white paper was to determine the impact on Hub Transport server performance of implementing industry-standard antivirus protection in an Exchange Server 2007 messaging environment.
