Geometric Network Design With Selfish Agents

Overview The network analysis yields a variety of interesting questions, which are important for many areas in research and applications. One of the most dynamic driving forces in modern society is the existence of the Internet - a powerful and universal artefact in human history. An interesting research direction explored recently is to understand and influence the development of the Internet. A fundamental difference to other networks is that the Internet is built and maintained by a number of independent agents that pursue relatively limited, selfish goals. This motivated a lot of the research in a field now called algorithmic game theory. A major direction in this field is to analyze stable solutions in non-cooperative (networking) games.
