Auto-Discovery: Approaches

Overview Auto-Discovery is a method for discovering the network topology and identifying the devices that reside in a network. It also gathers basic inventory information about the elements it has discovered. This information is used to discover and categorize various network elements such as Routers, Switches, Workstations, and Printers etc. There are several approaches for performing auto-discovery. These differ from one another in various aspects such as the depth of discovery, network traffic produced, etc.
