TCP Westwood+ Enhancement in High-Speed Long-Distance Networks

Overview In this paper, mechanisms to enhance the performance of TCP Westwood+ in the presence of a large Bandwidth-Delay Product are studied. In particular, the employment of a logarithmic function for congestion window increase in the absence of packet losses is proposed. Extensive numerical simulations, carried out by using ns-2, show that the use of such logarithmic function can lead to relevant performance improvements with respect to standard Westwood+ protocol.
