TCP-Friendly Congestion Control Schemes in the Internet

Overview This paper investigates several TCP-friendly congestion control mechanisms and sorts them according to their implementation methods. Advantages and disadvantages of every kind of these TCP-friendly schemes are listed after their principles. This paper also suggests that combination of end-to-end mechanisms and hop-by-hop mechanisms is the future of TCP-friendly congestion control as well as combination of AIMD-based scheme and model-based scheme.
