A Path Density Protocol for MANETs

Overview Knowing, i.e. measuring the "Path density" at sources of communications is essential to provide fair capacity distribution between sessions in multi-hop ad hoc networks. This paper proposes and has implemented PDP, a path density recording protocol. This paper describes PDP, discuss protocol design options and explain how it was piggybacked onto an existing reactive routing scheme. The authors assess the validity of the approach both using simulations and real world measurements.
