Performance Evaluation of LogWestwood+ TCP in Wired/Wireless Networks
Overview TCP is the most commonly used transport protocol on the Internet tuned to perform well in traditional networks made up of wired links with low bit error rates. Networks with higher bit error rates, such as those with wireless links, violate many of the assumptions made by TCP, causing degradation of end-to-end performance. This paper presents simulation-based performance evaluation of LogWestwood+ TCP protocol in wired/wireless environment. The ns-2 simulation results show that in most of considered scenarios, LogWestwood+ has the same or better goodput, compared to Westwood+, but with lower fairness index. It is indicated that additional improvement of LogWestwood+ algorithm in wireless environment is necessary by defining new Wmax and parameters.
