Hospital Increases Network Protection and Remote User Access With Security Solution

Overview The IT staff at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital (MCMH) in Red Oak, Iowa, felt that the focus of security for its network should be not only keeping unauthorized people out of the network but also exploring ways for approved users to gain secure access. With this need in mind, the medical facility evaluated methods of increasing remote user access that did not reduce its two-tier firewall security nor compromise compliance with the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Through its work with Heartland Technology Solutions, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Montgomery Hospital selected Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 in conjunction with the unique virtual private network quarantine component of Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
