Puerto Rico Department of Health Improves Bandwidth Availability and Performance
Overview Like many organizations, the Department of Health (DoH) of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico was finding the Internet to be both a boon and a source of problems. While it made it easier for employees to locate needed information, accessing Web sites unrelated to work was consuming large amounts of bandwidth and decreasing employee productivity. DoH also wanted to enable access to information to its facilities throughout the country to help automate processes such as verifying patient eligibility. It planned, eventually, to make its data available to outside healthcare providers and institutions - but was concerned about opening its network to security threats. Installing Microsoft Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 solved all of these problems.
