Overview University of Iowa (UI) Hospitals and Clinics are consistently ranked among the nation's top hospitals, combining world-class patient care with research and training for the next generation of health care professionals. Like all hospitals, to maintain accreditation, UI Hospitals and Clinics undergo an extensive evaluation every three years by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. In 2005, notified of the approaching survey only weeks before it started, UI Hospitals and Clinics turned to technology - a combination of Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services and Tablet PCs - to turn the usually stressful survey process into one that was collaborative and efficient.
