Borregaard Implements an IBM Lotus Messaging and Collaboration Environment to Improve Knowledge Sharing
Overview Lending new meaning to the Biblical truism that a tree is known by its fruit, Borregaard sees fruitful returns in its wood-based chemical business. With 20 production plants spread across 12 countries and sales offices in Europe, America, Asia and Africa, the company, headquartered in Sarpsborg, Norway, is a leading supplier of products like cellulose, lignin-based binding and dispersing agents, yeast and ethanol. This decentralized and international company faced challenges when sharing information and knowledge across its many regional offices. Additionally, its field sales staff lacked access to live production and inventory information, which slowed the sales process. Borregaard implemented a flexible infrastructure for e-mail, calendaring, instant messaging and custom applications using IBM Lotus Notes, IBM Lotus Domino and IBM Lotus Sametime software.
