Overview BCBST is the leading provider of healthcare financing in the state of Tennessee, delivering about US$14 billion in healthcare benefits to 4.6 million people. Headquartered in Chattanooga, BCBST employs about 4,000 people and provides services for residents across all 95 counties of the state. The company wanted to reduce operational expenses to lower the rising cost of business transactions. The challenge was to maintain business flexibility without incurring excessive software re-licensing fees as business volume changes. The company carried on a Portfolio Review and Analysis (PRA) conducted by the IBM Software Migration Project Office and implemented IBM mainframe software solutions for IBM zSeries systems.
