ERP Selection - Right-tracking Enterprise Change

Overview

Traditionally, the selection of an ERP solution is influenced by the predominance of the vendor in the industry. We tend to overlook the business uniqueness that lies in apparently less important business processes, which turn critical as new realizations unfold during implementation. Moreover, emerging trends in technology, like new breed of applications that have emerged in business analytics and enterprise integration, have made technology criteria in ERP more complex. The boundaries between these applications and ERP are being blurred. Instances of ERP implementations being scrapped or deferred in middle stages sound nightmarish, yet common. In most cases, it was just the wrong ERP solution.

How can the selection process be neutral, insightful and systematic for a better success rate, and defying the high precedence of failure? Factoring emerging dimensions and a holistic due diligence in the selection process is the answer.
