Bavarian Radio Station Switches to Digital Audio Archiving With IBM

Overview The Bayerischer Rundfunk is the state-owned radio and TV broadcaster of the German Federal State of Bavaria. To move from analogue carriers to digital audio archiving (music and the spoken word), automated search and retrieval of music files and pre-recorded spoken word programmes, the Bayerische Rundfunk worked with IBM to build the backbone for an integrated digital audio system capable of delivering audio data on demand to internal users and managing back-end audio storage. Aiming to speed up the production workflow and reduce costs, Bayerischer Rundfunk introduced IBM TotalStorage SAN File System (SAN FS) for storage virtualization.
