Barnstead International Increases Business Efficiency and Productivity With Additional Manufacturing Plant in Malaysia
Overview Barnstead International manufactures laboratory and dental products for a worldwide market, and it began the year 2005 knowing it would soon add a 100-employee operation half-way around the world, in Malaysia, to its primary manufacturing base in Dubuque, Iowa, where the company also is headquartered. To add manufacturing plants without additional information technology staff or computing facilities was a challenge. The company deployed IBM System i5 520 and i5/OS V5R3 operating system, with built-in DB2 Universal Database, plus Robot Automated Operations Solution from Help/Systems, Inc.
