SMS Custom Reporting for Dell PowerEdge Server Inventory

Overview This white paper demonstrates the creation of a baseline report for the currently-installed firmware, driver, and Dell OpenManage Server Administrator versions. There are four phases of this process: modifying or creating the sms_def.mof file, creating a Structured Query Language (SQL) database, creating a Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 report, running the SMS 2003 report. In addition, one may need to force a hardware inventory so that the report shows up accurately. Procedures for forcing a hardware inventory are provided at the end of this document.
