Mac OS X Panther Edition: Organizing Your Stuff

Overview The icon for the hard drive (usually called Macintosh HD) may appear in the upper-right corner of the screen. But if the user begins each morning by double-clicking it, like millions of other people who'd grown used to older versions of the Mac OS, the user is in for a shock: His or her stuff isn't there. All the user finds in the Macintosh HD window is a set of folders called Applications, Library, and Users - folders he or she didn't put there. (If the user upgraded an existing Mac to Mac OS X 10.3, he or she also sees all the original hard drive folders nestled among them.)
