University of California at Berkeley Chooses a Tiered Storage Approach
Overview The Haas School of Business at the University of California's Berkeley campus was founded more than 100 years ago, making it the oldest US business school at a public university. The Haas School of Business wanted to find a cost-effective, feature-rich data storage solution to manage increasing storage requirements (additional servers & RAID arrays) on campus setting. The school created a tiered storage scenario based on a fully redundant IP SAN using SANRAD's V-Switch 3000 iSCSI switches, in conjunction with the school's existing FC SAN. Then, there was addition of Nexsan's 21 TB SATABeast SATA RAID array to help consolidate data at a low cost per TB.
