Giant Eagle Uses Centralized Database and Integrated Applications to Enhance Performance and Increase Data Availability

Overview Giant Eagle, Inc. is one of the nation's largest food retailers and distributors with approximately $5.5 billion in annual sales. The company wanted to enhance database performance and allow users to retrieve business information where and when they need it. The challenges were to increase data availability when managing large data volumes and maximize legacy infrastructure investments by implementing flexible and interoperable database system and software applications. The company implemented Oracle Database 10g as the backbone of Giant Eagle's technology infrastructure, allowing the organization to access secure, reliable, and accurate data that drives critical business decisions daily.
