Road-Building Firm Gains Better Visibility of Construction Costs With Mobile Solution

Overview Eurovia, a world leader in road design and construction, manages more than 30,000 work sites in France and 60,000 around the world. Until recently, its 2,500 site managers lacked a real-time communications link with the head office. Eurovia then equipped its site managers with Tablet PCs from HP to give them greater flexibility, save time, and provide them with full-time access to the company's information system. Alsy, a computer engineering company, designed Papyrus, rich client software for the Tablet PCs, using the Microsoft .NET Framework and Microsoft Visual C# development tool. The Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine was deployed to capture the data. The solution went live after only 260 person-days of work.
