Software Company Meets Oil Exploration and Production Challenges With 64-Bit Solution

Overview Roxar, based in Stavanger, Norway, provides real-time measurement instruments, 3-D modeling software, and associated services to customers in the oil and natural gas industry. As global oil supplies decrease, researchers are creating more-complex computer models of what lies beneath the earth's surface. These models help companies to get the most out of existing reserves and find new sources of oil and gas in hard-to-access areas. Because the resulting data load is hard to manage in a 32-bit computing environment, Roxar is creating a version of its Irap RMS software for Windows XP 64-Bit Edition. When the software is released, access to the 64-bit Windows platform will enable researchers to make their calculations in a familiar computing environment without sacrificing performance.
