Performance Analysis of IOP Processor (XScale) for SAN/NAS Application
Overview Over the past several years, applications such as data warehousing, e-commerce and online multimedia have placed enormous demands on computing infrastructures, not only from a network capacity perspective, but also increasingly from a storage capacity perspective. Effectively managing vast amounts of storage has created the need for a robust, scalable and manageable external storage solution. The Storage-Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) were designed to meet these needs. In NAS and SAN environment, data is transferred from a server to the storage subsystem, and IOP subsystem memory is used as cache to store data temporarily before writing to the storage devices.
