Mobility Impact on Energy Conservation of Ad Hoc Routing Protocols

Overview Providing routing mechanism is a fundamental issue in ad hoc networks. Off late, many routing protocols have been proposed and a variety of performance studies have been done. However, it has been shown that the performance of an ad hoc routing protocol is highly dependent on the mobility model used. Most of previous work used only Random Waypoint mobility model, which is unrealistic in many situations. Moreover, mobile nodes are often power constrained so that energy conservation is also an important issue on evaluating protocols. No simulation studies have been done for energy conservation based on different mobility models.
