Overview Schneider Electric works with partners and customers worldwide to build and deploy the electrical and control systems that power homes, workplaces, and industrial machinery. Schneider Electric wanted to shift from selling separate products through its paper catalogs and CD-ROMs to grouping its products by the specific ways in which they're used by customers, such as those for elevators, cranes, and textiles. To do so, Schneider Electric built what the company refers to as the Generic Application Packaged Solution (GAPS). GAPS is an Office Business Application because it is fully integrated with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and pulls information from the Schneider Electric product catalog and other line-of-business sources for use in compiling design solutions.
