Towards Efficient and Robust Multihop Wireless Networks With Real-Time Media-Rich Application Support
Overview Wireless networks have enabled untethered Internet connectivity. As wireless technology becomes more robust and sophisticated, multihop wireless networks are rapidly gaining attention owing to their ease of deployment, adaptiveness, and cost-efficiency. A parallel trend is the increasing popularity of real-time media-rich applications. In this PhD dissertation, the paper envision a future where multihop wireless networks provide ubiquitous Internet connectivity and support diverse applications, including real-time media-rich applications, in an efficient and robust manner. The realization of this vision is particularly challenging due to key differences between wireless networks and their wireline counterparts, including the shared nature of the wireless medium, significantly lower capacity and easy accessibility to malicious attackers.
